How do I get started in local fencing competitions?

In order to enroll in a local fencing competition (nothing big, not like nationals or anything) would I need to be a member of USFA? if so how do I become a member? is there a fee?|||are you attending any gym at the moment?

if yes, they could assist you with all the info%26#039;s.

some links to help you out;

http://socalfence.org/|||It depends, some fencing tourneys will be USFA sanctioned. But most local/small/unrated tournaments won%26#039;t be, but if you find a local fencing club they will probably be the most hel;pful in getting you equipment and helping you find tournaments at your level.

Also askfred.net has tournaments posted for all of the U.S. so you could search there in your local area...|||askfred is good- I%26#039;ve signed up for a number of tournaments through them. USFA membership is needed for USFA tournaments, which many tournaments (but not all) are. I think that many tournaments let you sign up for USFA when you walk in, if you want. Thats how I got signed up as a USFA member.|||You probably would want to first associate yourself with a local fencing school/club.

For the networking and information source if nothing else.|||I didn%26#039;t know fencing had anything to do with martial arts, maybe try another section.|||if membership were required there would be a fee.

go to your local fencing club and ask.|||why would you wanna fence.....do something fun like bull riding
