My daughter wants a 6%26#039; chain link fence around her back garden. There is already a 3%26#039; one with 3%26#039; concrete posts. Please can anyone tell me the best, easiest and cheapest way of erecting the new fence. I%26#039;ve seen concrete and wooden posts, but was thinking something more like the metal post you see in parks. Any suggestions please?|||The only safe and proper way to do chain link is by installing concrete posts or galvanised steel with stays (brace supports at intervals) as you need support for the tension wires.|||Wooden will last about 15 years, metal and concrete will last much longer.
Wood = Cheap
Concrete = Middle Ground
Metal = Expensive|||I solved this problem by simply adding 3.ft to the concrete posts with timber the same size as the posts, mine were 3%26quot;X3%26quot; using to holes that the chain links went through and some long 1/4%26quot; bolts with washers, you could use angle iron but wood is easier and cheaper.|||Most chain link fences are mounted on the steel posts. They need to be concreted in if you are going to stretch the chainlink tight. Using the steel posts allows you to purchase the connecting hardware that goes with the fence. Using any other type of posts will force you to %26quot;makeshift%26quot; connectors.|||i would say the best would be concrete pre drilled posts they are heavy but once they are in they are there for a while
