Is it ok to set concrete fencing posts while it is raining?

I am setting 4x4x8 posts for privacey fence and its going to be raining on and off. Is it ok to set these posts while it is raining?|||Concrete will harden even underwater. In fact, moist-curing concrete makes it stronger, while curing it under unusually dry conditions will weaken it. So a bit of light rain won%26#039;t hurt, particularly after the concrete has been in place for a few hours. However, a driving or heavy rain that hits shortly after the concrete is placed could wash cement particles off the top surface, resulting in a rough and weakened surface. If you%26#039;re setting posts in the rain, a bigger problem is that the sides of your holes may collapse.

Having said all that, setting fence posts in concrete really isn%26#039;t the best method. What happens is that the wood eventually shrinks slightly, leaving a gap between the concrete and the wood that traps moisture, which in turn accelerates rot. It%26#039;s better to use a fast-draining mix of soil and pea gravel (or gravel and stone dust) and tamp it around the post. Here%26#039;s how the pros build a fence:

If you want a post to last a really long time, try this method:

Try to pick another time to set in the posts.
