If you share a wooden privacy fence with neighbors, who is responsible to replace the fencing?

I have a fence that seperates me and my neighbors back yards, who is the one that is responsible to replace the fence?|||Is it on your side of the property line or their%26#039;s. If on your side it is your cost and if on their side it is their cost. If it is directly on the property line you need to approach them in a friendly manner and discuss splitting the cost of maintaining the fence. If they refuse and you really want it fixed or maintained you will have to suck up the cost.|||The responsible party is the one that has the fence on their side of the property line. This is usually the person who put the fence up. If there is a question about the property line then check with your local tax assessor. The honorable thing to do is to work with your neighbor. Since both of you share the benefits of the fence, you should share some of the cost along with the design.|||Both of you pay for it.|||both of you|||Depends who%26#039;s property it is on. If it%26#039;s your property and you choose not to replace it just tear it down.|||It depends on who%26#039;s side of the property line the fence is built on and the original agreement when the fence was built. If it is on your property you are responsible.|||Both parties are responsible for the fence equally and any monies for repairs must be halved.|||depends on whos property but dont ask neigbors unless you can trust them. if this is your home, it should have been surveyed prior to purchase. find the stakes or ask city. i would be willing to bet a soda that most people dont know for sure where property line is, can only guess. most people are ignorant.
