Aside from fox urine and fencing, what is the best way to keep groundhogs out of your garden?

We have good success with live traps. a looonnng ride (at least 7 mi) is important. My friend teases me that every time we remove an animal and put it %26quot;out there%26quot; they all move down a tree.|||Whatever happened to this country (AMERICA) when people would just kill the damn rodent.
