English Ivy will get out of hand. Grapes are good, but do require some special pruning to look good. Trumpet vines are very pretty, but they really love to climb, but they do attract hummingbirds! If you are looking more for an annual then morning glory is a good choice, as are purple Hyacinth bean vines. T|||Morning glories are pretty. Ice plant also will climb and be fire protection. Climbing roses will keep kids from climbing over and be beautiful. Good luck.

Grapes are fabulous. I have a volunteer grape on my fence and only one plant has covered about 80ft of fence so far. The vine grows very fast, but it will take 3 to 4 years to see fruit. The vine just gets fuller and fruitier every year. There is the Humming bird vine/Trumpet vine that attracts humming birds and pollinators of all kinds. The hummers just love this vine, however, you will need to keep on top of it because it will creep along the ground and end up somewhere you don%26#039;t want it. Trumpet vine can be a bit invasive. There is honey suckle or Jasmine which smells Divine. Watch out for Carolina Jessamine because although it is beautiful and smells fabulous, it is deadly poisonous. So, if you have pets or children be careful around it. Morning glories are okay. You don%26#039;t really get vine until mid summer and then they don%26#039;t bloom until early Autumn.
A good ivy is Virginia creeper which is green in the summer and red in Autumn or English ivy. Oh, I must not forget the Clematis which is a very beautiful vine. It likes full sun on the vine with shade on it%26#039;s roots. Passion vine is also a good choice.
