Fencing????

Where can you normally find places to fence?? and the equipment?? and the instruction???

Is there a catogory for fencing under sports?? sorry just wondering|||Check out www.usfencing.org

This is the official site of amateur fencing in the US. They have links to clubs and organizations in every state. Just about any club (or school where fencing is offered) will give beginners lessons. Cost depends on where you go. The club I fence with charges $45 for 1 semester%26#039;s instruction and a $15 floor fee per semester after that. However, this is relatively cheap and I would expect to find costs in the $50 to $100 per month.

Most clubs will also have loaner equipment you can use until you decide to make the investment. Beginner gear for a foil, glove, jacket, and mask can be purchased from any number of suppliers (see the web site links) for about $150.

Hope this helps.|||Definatly wrong. USFA is THE site for fencing in the unsited states. They are the ones that organize any and all fencing events that are worth going to. there are people of all ranks in the USFA. Everyone on the Olympic team AND amateurs are members. Report Abuse
|||I have a new interest in learning to fence. Today I was checking it out on the Internet. I searched for %26#039;fencing lessons (my town, state). I live in a city, so I found several places. I did do a search for %26#039;fencing equipment%26#039; just to see what the prices are like. There%26#039;s plenty of places to shop on line, but I%26#039;m sure any fencing school/club would be able to direct you to a place in your area. There isn%26#039;t a fencing category (I just looked) so I just did an Answers search for %26#039;fencing%26#039;. I%26#039;m looking forward to trying it. It looks like fun.|||finding a place to learn to fence depends on where you live. Local Y M/W CAs, recreation centers and colleges often have clubs. There are private clubs also. If you visit:

http://www.usfencing.org/usfa/

and click on %26quot;Find a club%26quot; you should be able to identify us Fencing Association member clubs in your state/city. This list is ONLY for USFA member clubs. There are many non-USFA member programs.

As to equipment, you need to take fencing classes first to see if you will enjoy fencing before running off and buying equipment. Most clubs have beginner equipment to get you started.

Fencing is a sport and therefore, hard work. It%26#039;s not what you see in the movies.
